The medicines of this group are types of steroids. They help improve appetite, bone density, muscle mass and increase the production of red blood cells. These medicines may be prescribed for the treatment of osteoporosis, wasting syndromes (excessive loss of body weight and muscle mass), and certain types of anemias. Some of them may also be used to treat a condition known as hereditary angioedema.
