The medicines belonging to this group are types of steroids. These medicines may be prescribed for the treatment of osteoporosis, wasting syndromes (excessive loss of body weight and muscle mass), and certain types of anemias. They help improve appetite, bone density, muscle mass and increase the production of red blood cells. Some of them may also be used to treat a condition known as hereditary angioedema.
