Amebicides are a group of medicines used to treat the infections caused by parasites known as ameba. They help to eradicate ameba by killing or destroying them. Various medicines of this group have a different mechanism of action. Some of these medicines act on ameba that have invaded the tissues (e.g. liver) whereas others act on ameba that are limited to the intestines.
