How Sofradex Products work

Framycetin + Dexamethasone is a combination of two medicines: Framycetin + Dexamethasone1 and Framycetin + Dexamethasone2. Framycetin + Dexamethasone1 is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Framycetin + Dexamethasone2 is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.
