Frequently asked questions about Amcin Products
Frequently asked questions about Ampicillin
Q. Can I give Amcin 125mg Tablet to my child repeatedly for a long time?
Giving your child Amcin 125mg Tablet for a long term can cause fungal infection (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfections). Therefore, do not alter the dose and duration on your own and give Amcin 125mg Tablet to your child exactly as prescribed. Additionally, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Amcin 125mg Tablet can make the bacteria resistant.
Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Amcin 125mg Tablet?
Although rare, Amcin 125mg Tablet may cause some serious side effects such as skin rash, allergy, superinfection, bleeding problems, seizures, and blood cell abnormalities. If your child experiences any such symptoms, consult the doctor at the earliest.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Amcin 125mg Tablet?
Amcin 125mg Tablet can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Amcin 125mg Tablet. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Amcin 125mg Tablet?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Q. The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.
Q. Is Amcin 125mg Tablet safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Amcin 125mg Tablet.
