What is Myoglobin, Serum?
Myoglobin, Serum test is used to measure the amount of myoglobin in the blood. It is a protein found in the heart and skeletal muscles, while its presence in the blood indicates a muscle injury and or heart muscle injury. This test is used for the diagnosis of muscular dystrophy, rhabdomyolysis and myositis. It is also recommended along with other cardiac markers for the confirmation of myocardial infraction.
