Factor VIII also known as Antihemophilia Factor A is a key protein for blood clotting. The test is used to detect the activity of Factor VIII. Deficiency of Factor VIII leads to Hemophilia A giving rise to symptoms such as prolonged & unexplained bleeding, easy bruising, slow wound healing, joint pain, heavy menstruation & severe low back pain. Treatment includes replacement of Factor VIII depending upon severity of bleeding & BMI of patient.
