Understanding CA 72.4
What is CA 72.4?
The CA 72.4 test is used for monitoring or screening the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. It can measure the amount of tumor marker related to glycoprotein 72 in the bloodstream that is generally increased in the case of gastric carcinoma. Usually, gastric carcinoma comes with non-specific and vague symptoms that make it difficult to diagnose it in the early stages. Some of the most common symptoms of this are bloated feeling, indigestion, loss of appetite, and heartburn.
Even though it is slow-growing cancer, an asymptomatic precancerous alternation can easily be seen in the stomach's inner lining. CA 72.4 helps in the early detection of stomach carcinoma.
