Maxogyl Syrup is a combination medicine that is used to treat diarrhea and dysentery. It prevents the growth of microorganisms to treat the infection.

Maxogyl Syrup is a combination of two antibiotics: Maxogyl Syrup1 and Maxogyl Syrup2.

In Diarrhea

Diarrhea is an increase in the frequency of bowel movements or loose watery bowel movements. It can most commonly occur due to an infection of the digestive tract. Maxogyl Syrup helps to treat diarrhea that is caused due to bacteria or parasitic worm infections. This medicine can relieve frequent loose motions and also help you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

In Dysentery

Dysentery or amoebic dysentery is a parasitic infection of the intestines that occurs mostly due to intake of contaminated food or water. The symptoms include loose stools (diarrhea), stomach cramps and stomach pain. Maxogyl Syrup helps to treat this infection by killing the infection causing parasites. It relieves these symptoms and also helps you to stay well by preventing them from coming back.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Pregnancy

Maxogyl Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding
CAUTION
Maxogyl Syrup should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
If a single dose of Maxogyl Syrup is used, it is recommended to hold breastfeeding for 12-24 hours to allow the removal of the drug.
Driving
UNSAFE
Maxogyl Syrup may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Maxogyl Syrup may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Maxogyl Syrup should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Maxogyl Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of kidney function tests is advised if this medicine is to be taken for a long time.
Liver
CAUTION
Maxogyl Syrup should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Maxogyl Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you forget to take Maxogyl Syrup?

If you miss a dose of Maxogyl Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Diarrhea can cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids to help rehydrate you.

  • Do not use Maxogyl Syrup if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated.

Take Maxogyl Syrup as soon as you remember it. However, do not take it if it's almost time for your next dose. Also, do not take an extra dose to make up for your missed dose.
