Benefits of Manitol Infusion
In Acute renal failure
Manitol 20% Infusion is used to increase urine production in cases of kidney failure. This means it is also used to treat or prevent medical conditions that are caused by an increase in body fluids/water such as recent kidney failure called acute renal (kidney) failure. It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered.
In Cerebral edema (accumulation of excessive fluid in the brain)
Symptoms of brain swelling (cerebral edema) include headache, dizziness, nausea, numbness or weakness, loss of coordination or balance, loss of the ability to see or speak, seizures (fits), memory loss, incontinence, or altered level of consciousness. Manitol 20% Infusion decreases brain volume by decreasing overall water content in the brain. This helps to reduce the accumulation of excessive fluid in the brain. It helps to relieve these symptoms effectively within a short duration of time and prevents further comoplications.
In Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, the health of which is vital for good vision. This damage is often caused by an abnormally high pressure in your eye. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60 or older. Manitol 20% Infusion is used to reduce swelling and pressure inside the eye. This helps to prevent complications of glaucoma such as blindness and improves the vision.
