Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection that can be life-threatening for infants. It is marked by a severe hacking cough followed by a high-pitched intake of breath that sounds like "whoop". What if I forget to give Eromed Syrup to my child?
Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. But, if it is nearly time for the next dose, just give the upcoming dose at the right time. Do not double the dose.

What if I give an overdose of Eromed Syrup by mistake?
Though an extra dose of Eromed Syrup does not usually cause any harm, you must consult a doctor immediately if you feel you have given too much of it to your child. Never forget that overdose can increase the risk of unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition. So, stay vigilant and adhere to the prescribed dose.
What are the serious side effects of Eromed Syrup?
Eromed Syrup may rarely cause some serious side effects such as severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfection), severe allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, blood infections, and heart conduction abnormalities like QT prolongation due to arrhythmia. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Eromed Syrup?
Eromed Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Eromed Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Is it safe to give Eromed Syrup if my child has low potassium levels in blood?
Avoid giving Eromed Syrup if your child has low potassium levels as it can lead to conduction abnormalities of the heart such as arrhythmias (QT prolongation).
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Eromed Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Which lab tests should my child undergo while taking Eromed Syrup for the long term?
Your child’s doctor may advise you to track your child’s ECG and liver functioning periodically as that will help to keep a check on your child’s condition.
My child is having a sore throat and ear infection. Can I give antibiotics?
No. Sore throats, runny nose, cough, pain, or discharge from the ear are almost always caused by viruses. As per statistics, more than 80% of sore throats and ear infections are caused by a virus. Since antibiotics should not be given for viral infections, it will be best if you consult your child’s doctor to seek guidance.
