According to Ayurveda, the instillation of herbal oils or nasya is ‌one of the most important holistic self-care practices that can encourage healthy prana flow and internal detoxification. It may help clear the accumulated doshas from the nasal passage and enables you to breathe better! Kerala Ayurveda anuthailam is a nasya oil made with kapha balancing ingredients such as leptadenia or jivanti, liquorice or yashtimadhu, fragrant swamp mallow or hrivera and indian bael or bilva and other herbs processed in goat’s milk and sesame oil. It is made using the original and ancient recipe as mentioned in the secret recipe book of ayurveda- ashtanga hridayam.

• Leptadenia or jivanti

• Liquorice or yashtimadhu

• Fragrant swamp mallow or hrivera

• Indian bael or bilva

• Goat milk

• Sesame oil

Directions for use

• Gently massage your face and neck with a few drops of sesame oil, avoiding the eyes

• Place a towel over a medium-hot pan till its slightly warm

• Check the temperature and apply it over the face and neck, avoiding the eyes

• Lie on your bed, extend your hands and legs, and keep a pillow under your head

• Ensure there is not too much sunlight or wind entering the room

• Place a container nearby to spit out excess mucus

• Place anu thailam in a warm bowl of water

• After a few minutes, take out the thailam and check that it is sufficiently hot

• Instill 1-2 drops of Thailam in each nostril, and continue lying down, face up

• When the medicine reaches your throat, spit out the excess mucus

• Nasya should be done in the morning, on an empty stomach, after brushing and evacuating your bowels, 30 minutes before bath
