What is Immunoglobulin A?
Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is the antibody that plays a vital role in immune function of mucous membrane. It is also known as first line of defence of the body against microbial infections. IgA test checks for its amount present in the body.
People with IgA deficiency have higher likelihood of lung, digestive tract and sinus infection. Other autoimmune disorders like celiac disease, lupus disease, rheumatoid arthritis and Grave disease may also arise due to IgA deficiency.
