What is Ceruloplasmin?
This test measures the amount of ceruloplasmin in the blood which is a protein that stores and carries copper from the liver to the bloodstream. The test is often used to diagnose Wilson disease. Low levels of Ceruloplasmin indicates Wilson disease. You may need this test if you signs of Wilson disease like anemia, jaundice, nausea, or abdominal pain. This test is also used to detect copper deficiency which are reflected in the symptoms like pale skin, low levels of WBCs, osteoporosis and fatigue.
